Nicolaus Copernicus:
Nicolaus was a Polish mathmatician, he believed that the sun was at the center of the universe. He also released a book called On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres in 1543. He did not agree with Ptolemy's view that the earth was the center of the universe. He believed that theory was too complicated. So instead he developed a sun-centered theory of the universe (heliocentric). His theory stated that the not the Earth, but the Sun was the center of the universe, and that the planets moved in circular paths around the sun.

Johannes Kepler:

Johannes Kepler was a German astronomer. He supported Copernicus's theory, although he supported it, he also made some corrections to it. He added the idea that the planets moved in ellipses (oval paths), rather then circular paths. His theory mad it more easier to explain the movements of the planets and it also marked the beginning of modern astronomy.

Galileo Galilei:

Galileo was an Italian scientist who made the third great breakthrough in the Scientific Revolution. He believed that new knowledge could come through experiments that were carefully carried out. Galileo challenged Aristotle's idea that the heavier the object is, the faster it falls on the ground. Galileo proved Aristotle's theory wrong, objects fall at the same speed regardless of their weight.Galileo improved instruments too, he also played an important role in the development of new scientific instruments. In 1593 he invented a water thermometer which allowed temperature changes to be measured.

Sir Isaac Newton:

Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician. Newton was sitting in his garden one day when he watched an apple fall to the ground. The apple's fall led him to the idea of gravity.
